💼 The New Wave of Fake Job, Refund, and Debt Relief Scams

Nov 04, 2025

If it seems like scam messages are getting smarter — you’re right.

Scammers now use AI-generated messages, real company logos, and convincing language that looks exactly like something from your bank, PayPal, or even the IRS.

And with job markets and finances stretched thin, they know exactly how to push your buttons.

Here are three scam trends we’re seeing more of this month:

💰

1. The Fake Refund or Overcharge

It starts with a message like:

“We accidentally charged your account twice — click here to confirm your refund.”

The site looks real. The logo’s real. Even the “support” chat may look official.

But that click sends you to a fake login screen that steals your password.

How to spot it:

If you didn’t request a refund, don’t trust unsolicited ones. Check your bank or vendor directly instead of clicking links.

🧾

2. The Debt Relief or “Bill Forgiveness” Program

These show up as text messages or Facebook ads claiming to erase credit card debt or reduce bills.

They’ll often ask for your Social Security number or “application fee” to get started.

How to spot it:

Real government programs never contact you first — and they don’t ask for payment upfront.

💼

3. The Too-Good-to-Be-True Job Offer

Fake recruiters promise high pay, flexible hours, and “remote work opportunities.”

They’ll ask for a small “setup” fee, banking details for “direct deposit,” or send a fake check that bounces later.

How to spot it:

If a job sounds effortless or pays too well for the work described, it’s a scam.

Legitimate employers don’t need your financial info until after you’re officially hired.

Stay Smart — Ask Before You Click

Before you respond, download, or apply — take 10 seconds to think:

“Does this make sense?”

If not, take a screenshot and ask PCRescue before you click.

We’ll review the message or pop-up and let you know if it’s safe — no judgment, no charge.

Because in a world full of fakes, it pays to have someone real watching your back. 💪

Bottom Line

The best scam filter isn’t software — it’s slowing down and checking first.

If you’re unsure about an offer, refund, or alert — send it to PCRescue.

We’ll help you verify before a scammer profits from your trust.
