Celebrating 23 Years of Keeping Your Tech Running

How It All Began

Hard to believe, but in 2002 PCRescue started with a simple favor for a friend. I was cleaning up an unusable family computer in exchange for dinner when she suggested I actually charge people for the service.

At the time, I already had about 12 years of experience setting up, repairing, and restoring computers—and even performing basic data recovery. As home and small-business computer use exploded, I realized I enjoyed helping everyday users far more than I enjoyed my job.

The Early Days

I registered a business name, printed cards, and took out an ad in the Yellow Pages (things have definitely changed). In those days, I performed warranty work for Dell, IBM, Gateway, and Hewlett-Packard. I drove all over town fixing computers in homes and businesses—often rushing to pick my small children up from school and daycare between jobs.

When gas prices soared above $2.00, I began doing more in-shop repairs from my home office. As remote solutions became available, I embraced them. By 2008, PCRescue was offering remote support and proactive maintenance plans.

Growing With Technology

I started working on computers before Windows was even a thing. From DOS viruses and the first malicious macros to today’s ransomware and scareware, I’ve worked through every wave of threats.

I’ve been online since Prodigy, Compuserve, AOL, bulletin boards, and ICQ. Back in 1994, I knew personal computers and the internet would change everything—but I never could have imagined smartphones, ubiquitous Wi-Fi, cloud computing, software-as-a-service, or AI.

Fortunately, I’ve always loved learning new technologies and how they work. Along the way, I earned a Master’s in Cybersecurity and expanded my knowledge across personal computers, servers, networks, phones, tablets, storage, cloud systems, and now AI.

What Hasn’t Changed

One thing has always been clear to me: home users and small businesses are the most underserved group in technology. Too often, people are left to rely on the same companies selling them computers and software for guidance—usually steering them toward buying more products instead of solving problems.

Your devices may just be “things,” but they hold your data, your memories, and your livelihood. That’s why PCRescue has always focused on protecting data first, and on giving clients the knowledge and tools they need to trust their systems every day.

The First Notes That Still Matter

When PCRescue began, I kept a small notebook with reminders for myself. One of the first entries read:

“Be on time. Communicate. Explain the problem and the solution. Be helpful.”

It turns out there’s much more to running a business than that—but it was a good start, and those principles still guide me today.

Looking Ahead

Twenty-three years later, technology has changed beyond recognition, but PCRescue’s mission hasn’t. From Windows XP to Windows 11, from shop repairs to secure remote sessions, we’ve grown alongside the tools you depend on.

As I look forward to the next 23 years, I’m excited to keep serving families and small businesses with the same personal, reliable support that got us here.
